CENTRE BASED inc MINI TOUR
A brief itinerary for one of our centre based tours.

Saturday airport transfer to our base in the Alpujarras from Granada or Malaga airport. Stop off for lunch on the coast ( Malaga arrivals ) before continuing the journey to Sierra Nevada. Arrive at base in village of Fondales, south facing slopes of Sierra Nevada with spectacular views of the Trevelez gorge. Build bikes then relax by pool watching the sun set.

All evening meals served at 8:30 in the house or on the terrace apart from one night when we eat at a local bar ( food price is included, just need money for drinks ) You can choose your time for breakfasts as there is a fully stocked kitchen of breakfast supplies. Alternitavely take a stroll to the local bar for a tostada and coffee with the locals.

Rides start at 10:00am, normally with two guides depending on group size.

The house has three bedrooms sleeping two, two and three and is of a rustic Moorish style (other overspill accommodation of equal quality also available)

  • One bedroom has ensuite shower, the other two share a shower.
  • Two w.c's with wash hand basins, separate shower.
  • Kitchen with all modern facilities.
  • Lounge area with TV/DVD satellite and book library.
  • Covered work shop area and secure bike storage.
  • Two terraces one with pool 6m x 3.5m the other partly covered with tables and chairs and a full size bar style pool table.
There are three local bars also serving food within walking distance.
Sunday is normally an initiation ride
(we call it Sunday club run, some of the locals join in as wel ). It is designed to see how everybody rides together and check abilities.

Starting and finishing from base, taking in a coffee stop, steady slow pace climbing is the order of the morning culminating in a fast flowing, intermediate single track descent in time for lunch at a locals style bar in a mountain village.

After lunch, no climbing involved just a one hour mixture of fast flowing and technical rocky singletrack downstream through the Trevelez gorge finishing back at base.
Approx 30kms, 800mts climb/descend. Depending on group size and ability we can customise the rest of the week tosuit, maybe making some detours from the main group with slower or faster riders, as and when.

Monday. Uplift service ( 800mts in the bag ) using mini bus/s with our custom built roll on roll off trailer (bikes stay complete, no wheel removal needed). Mixture of double and singletrack traverse to highest village in Spain for restaurant lunch. Rest needed before gruelling singletrack climb then superfast flowing bermed, adrenalin fuelled descent. Great views looking down to the Mediterranean coastline with a singletrack traverse heading back towards base ending in one of the most spectacular zig zag descents down into a river crossing. Short hike a bike out of the river valley and more singletrack sorties home. Approx 45kms, 600m climb/1250m descend.

Tuesday. Uplift transfer to short picturesque forested climb of 6km. Traverse of single and double track into long, arm pumping (alternative easier route available) planted rock 70 arguably all do-able zig zag bends descent to lunch in village bar and well earned rest ( 1000mts descent over 6kms). Afternoon. Short 3km climb into narrow track traverse, finishing downhill on speedway style loose descent you will either love or hate.
Transfer team meet us in river bed finish (any hard core xc riders have an option of climbing back to base, with a guide) for uplift towards home with an option of another descent straight to the back door. 38km. 700m up 1600m down.

Wednesday. Officially a free day ( resting ), a morning xc ride can be arranged or a trip to a local village for lunch or canyoning depending on conditions.

Thursday / Friday. We have been offering ( an optional) a two day trip to Granada staying in a good quality hostal in the centre, overnight. Mini bus transfer to outskirts of Granada. 30km Moab style super sweet singletrack ( we call it the Holy Grail ), lunch in mountain refuge. Route ending off road in central Granada. Check in to overnight accommodation
( 18 euros ).
After a short rest at a local bar we head off for tour of the Albaicin ( yes! on our bikes ), the old Moorish quarter of the city, a village within. The route takes us through the narrow cobbled zig zag streets towards a high point just in time for the sun set. We are overlooking Granada and the famous Alhambra Palace as we make a well deserved stop at a gypsy cave bar for a drink and tapas.
Our descent back into the centre takes us through the village of a thousand steps, some with zig zags and stepped ramps. Various tapas stops later ( one with a bush tucker trial ) we are back at our overnight retreat , tired but buzzing.
Officially the day is over ( around 11pm ) but if any one has the energy ,with bikes stowed away, the night is still young. Friday is the stocking filler ride.
A morning xc ride around the Alhambra Palace and out into the surrounding countryside ( traversing easy flowing singletrack ) with great views of the north facing slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains and returning to the Albaicin.
Tapas lunch stop in friendly bar, central but away from the tourist route. Bikes loaded for the transfer back to base ( optional descent back into village ). Pack bikes and relax before last evening meal.
Saturday. transfer back to airport hopefully having had a M.B.holiday to remember.

The above is a brief example of what is on offer. We can mix/match, offer tuition and customise to suit.

Price per person which will include airport transfers, accommodation, evening meals, breakfasts, profesional guiding and route transfers .... £325:00 with discounts for bookings of more than two and returning guests.
